Sea otters eat more than 25% of their body weight each day?
One of the most complex communities on earth, the Coral Reef features a multitude of creatures. In the Aquarium's Pacific Coral Reef exhibit a 25,000 gallon community tank demonstrates the structure of the reef fish community, as a variety of warm-water fish and sharks drift through a large, man-made coral reef. Lucky visitors can even see divers entering the tank to feed these fish!
Walk around the display tank and see the reef's deeper portions, where numerous habitats exist in a single coral reef. Each respective depth contains a unique assortment of creatures along the reef.
Opposite of the main Pacific Coral Reef tank, a series of jewel tanks introduce visitors to smaller animals that call the reef home. Some tanks feature actual living coral, while video screens describe different aspects of reef-life and the dangers humans pose to this delicate habitat.
