Seattle Aquarium beach field lab

Beach orientation

An Aquarium staff person will visit your classroom to help students learn about some of our Puget Sound tide pool animals through field guide use; engaging in argument from evidence as a scientific practice; and appropriate beach etiquette so students know how to be kind visitors in these animals’ homes. This program can be booked on its own or along with a beach field lab.

Beach field lab

Available April–August, depending on tides.

An Aquarium staff member will meet your class at the beach to guide exploration and discovery of the amazing creatures uncovered at local beaches during low tide. Field guides and other exploration tools will be provided. This program can be booked on its own or in combination with a beach orientation to prepare your students for deeper engagement on their trip to the beach. Bus transportation is not included.

Select beaches are available based on your school's location.

If you’re visiting the beach on your own, check out these resources before you go.
