The giant Pacific octopus is the largest species of octopus in the world. They can weigh in excess of 100 lbs. with reliable reports listing the record weight as over 400 lbs.

Most full grown giant Pacific octopuses from Puget Sound that have resided in the Seattle Aquarium weigh between 40 and 70 lbs.

"Bill" was the largest octopus here at the aquarium.....weighing 92 lbs in May of 2001.
