Seattle waterfront is open

There’s never been a better time to visit the Seattle Aquarium and explore the waterfront—summer’s in full swing, which usually brings throngs of tourists to the neighborhood, but not during this unprecedented year! There’s plenty of space to maintain distance as you stroll the wide sidewalk along Alaskan Way, taking in amazing views of Elliott Bay and enjoying the sights and sounds of Seattle’s historic waterfront.

We love our locals at the Aquarium, so much that we offer a $5 discount for Washington state residents (in addition to a $2 discount for purchasing tickets online!). You can even apply the cost of your admission toward an Aquarium membership, which will give you a whole year of access to the Aquarium as well as an array of exclusive perks.

And, speaking of locals, you can learn all about the amazing animals that make their homes along Puget Sound beaches and in the waters of the Salish Sea in our Window on Washington Waters, Life on the Edge, Puget Sound Fish and Underwater Dome exhibits. Our current timed ticketing and limited capacity will make you feel like a VIP as you explore—plan your visit now!

We’re delighted to let you know that our café is back up and running with a food cart featuring a tantalizing array of grab-and-go options for you to enjoy while taking in the very best, up-close view of Elliott Bay from our back deck, which is ordinarily closed to the public. The food cart will be operating Thursdays–Sundays, 11am–4pm, starting July 23.

Choose from a variety of soft drinks, beer and wine—all with recyclable/compostable packaging; a rotating selection of house-made sandwiches and antipasto items (menu will change daily); and did someone say ice cream? We just did!

Hand sanitizer will be available at the register and, for everyone’s health and safety, payment will be available by card only (no cash).

Even though the best part of a day at the waterfront is clearly a visit to the Seattle Aquarium (not that we’re biased!)—you’ll find plenty of other fun activities to keep you and your family happily engaged for an entire day, or more! Take a spin on the Great Wheel, explore the stalls at Pike Place Market, discover the many shops and restaurants along the waterfront, hike (or bike!) to the north end of Alaskan Way and discover the beautiful expanses of Myrtle Edwards and Olympic Sculpture parks—it’s all here for you to enjoy.

Wondering about parking? Here’s great news: metered spaces are now only 50 cents per hour, and completely free on Sundays! If you prefer to park in a garage, there are several nearby, and many offer special deals.

Come and enjoy your Seattle Aquarium and waterfront neighborhood this summer! With the longest and flattest stretch of uninterrupted sidewalk in the city, there’s plenty to explore and discover—and, whether you start or finish your visit with us, we can’t wait to see you!

Please consider a gift that will help the Aquarium continue to provide the best care for its animals,
advance science-based policies to protect marine wildlife, and expand at-home and
Aquarium-based engagement and learning opportunities.

A gift of any size makes a difference.

Support the Seattle Aquarium

Your gift will support the Seattle Aquarium’s 2020 Resilience Fund and our continued service to the community despite our current, temporary closure in addition to 16 weeks of closure last spring. Our programming continues with your help.

Through the end of the year, longtime supporters Stuart and Lee Rolfe will double every gift made to the Resilience Fund up to $500,000! This is an incredible opportunity to make your support of the Seattle Aquarium go even further.
