Each year, thousands of Pacific salmon return to our local watersheds to produce the next generation of fish. It’s an epic journey, and the Seattle Aquarium invites you to follow along.
This October, Aquarium naturalists will be stationed at locations along the Cedar River in Renton and Maple Valley on select weekend days from 10am to 2pm. Find the latest dates and times on the Aquarium’s website.
“Salmon are the cornerstone of our local ecosystem, which supports us all,” says Jezella Peraza, field programs and outreach coordinator at the Aquarium. “We’re lucky to be able to witness a wildlife migration in the heart of an urban environment. I invite curious visitors to learn more about the challenges salmon face and how we can all support their wellbeing.”
The Aquarium’s Cedar River Salmon Journey program is part of its free public community engagement. The program runs at the Ballard Locks in the summer and along the Cedar River in October. Drop-in visitors of all ages are welcome.
